The rise of Alcoholic product export

In eight months 2008, local economic agents exported spirits worth 129 mln USD, 79% up against the same period of 2007.

According to Moldova-Vin Agroindustrial Agency, spirits worth 111 mln USD (88% more) was exported to the CIS states, the exports to the EU member states amounted to 15.3 mln USD (40% more), while the exports to other states amounted to 2.4 mln USD (39% more).

According to the cited source, the biggest exports of spirits were aimed at the Russian Federation (41.2 mln USD, 33% up against 86-88% before the embargo). Ukraine ranked the second with 32.1 mln USD, followed by Belarus with 30.2 mln USD. For the first time Poland ranked on the fourth place with 6.1 mln USD (around 5% of the Moldovan wine export). The list goes on with Kazakhstan (3.8 mln USD), Romania (3.6 mln USD), the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan with 1.7 mln USD, Georgia with 1.2 mln USD and the USA with 1 mln USD.

According to Moldova Vin data, in eight months 2008, the wine exports to China increased by 3.7 times up to 376 000 USD against 102 000 USD in the similar period of 2007.

Data of the National Bureau of Statistics show that in the first half of this year Moldovan enterprises produced wines and distilled spirits worth 552.4 mln lei and 262.1 mln lei respectively. Compared with the similar period of the previous year, the volume of the wine production increased by 1.65 times, and the production of distilled spirits increased by 1.5 times.
